Water Texture Question

Featured Replies

This is an interesting question, (at least I think it is). I've been trying a number of free water textures the last few days and didn't like any of them. So I've tried to revert back to the original water textures and can't seem to. I think I've compiled a comprehensive list of all the water textures that FS9 uses and have replaced them with the original and default FS9 versions and still the water doesn't look anything like it did when I did a fresh install last week. Now for the interesting part. You know how FS9 has a draw distance for ground textures in FS9.cfg? So say for instance you're at FL100 over the ocean and there are no clouds. At a distance you can see where the detailed water textures drop off. The aircraft you're flying appears to be be flying in a square area of highly detailed textures and then in the distance it becomes blurry with much less detail and a different color.Well, my water textures look correct in the distant blurry area but in the higher detailed square area around my aircraft, the water textures are way too dark! So I guess my question is if there is something in FS9.cfg, (or one of the other .CFG files), which is controlling the color of the water textures in the high detail area around my aircraft? Also, is the color or configuration of FS9's current ground texture set controlling the color of the water textures? If someone out there understands this and is willing too, please do explain, because I keep kicking in one leg and another one pops out on the other side.Mark
