November 15, 200322 yr Boy, am I envious.I'm looking at all those cool new jets for FS2004, but I want to stick with FS2002. Whats the big difference between the two in terms of add-on airplanes. Can we download brand new releases to use in FS2002 or are we just outta luck? The supply of new birds for FS2002 virtually ended when 2004 came out.
November 15, 200322 yr Freeware or payware? There is an excellent version of the Japanese turboprop for FS2002. Both the PMDG 737NG and the Eaglesoft Biz Jets offer instalation in either or both sims as they were developed originally for FS2002. Same is true of the Cessna C310 twin piston and the Briefing Time B-25. The Meridian is now avialable in versions for both sims, as is the CS 727-200.What planes were you referring too? The PSS A330 and A340 are only FS2004 exclusives as far as I can tell. Colin
November 15, 200322 yr I'd say at least 80-90 Pct. of the "FS2004" aircraft in release started their development under FS2002...it takes a while to get a good project going. You may have to tweak the panel.cfg to substitute a FS2002 gauge for one of FS2004--a certainty where the gps is concerned. You may also have to tweak an FDE or two as there's differences there. But visually, any FS2004 mdl will work in FS2002 since the FS2002 SDK is the one that's current at the moment. A/C reflections may look a bit different--depends on how the author implemented them for FS2004's release. One aircraft I worked on with Chuck Dome has a set of glass reflection textures for FS2002, and another for FS2004.I don't think you'll have serious issues with any custom gauges, although there's some smart gauge designers out there who may have hit upon an FS2004 only function. My advice--try the aircraft and enjoy them....lot's of great stuff out there! I've flown most FS2004 aircraft in FS2004 untweaked... -John
