stopping the engines from quitting?

Featured Replies

Anyone know what to change to stop the ridiculous stopping of the aircraft engines in idle?

HI Friend:I think this has something to do with elevation or altitude so all ido is open the throttle to a point (can't remember the exact rpm setting)but just enough to keep the engine running at idle.hope this helps. HAMMER

In the (GeneralEngineData) section (the parenthesis should be substituted with the left and right square brackets)...change or add the followingmin_throttle_limit=0.100000

How about that! I was looking the answer to that question too. I just forgot to ask it.Many thanks for posting................

What do you mean exactly? Is this a problem you're having with aircraft you are making or tweaking or is it a general problem you're having with all prop aircraft? If it's the latter do you know where the mixture control is and what it's for?Tony

Yes, Tony, I know about mixture controls. In this casemy c182's engine stops whenever I reduce the throttleto idle. (Changing the min_throttle_limit by the way, didn't fix it).

For aircraft with piston engines, increasing this aircraft.cfg file entry cured the problem for me:idle_rpm_mechanical_efficiency_scalar= 1.0<--increase to about 1.4 to 1.5You can also increase the idle speed by decreasing this entry:idle_rpm_friction_scalar= 1.0<--decrease to about 0.2 to 0.4
