November 17, 200322 yr Since I have seen some people asking for help with starting up the aircraft, I decided to verify and write down the procedures I use.I use FS 2002, and I haven't tried this on airfields with "exotic" conditions (high altitude or extreme temperatures), so your mileage may vary.I would also like some help with slaving the VOR/ILS and ADF to the autopilot as I haven't been able to do this.I apologise for my English ( I am not a native English speaker) and for any typo on the Russian labels (as I don't speak, read or write Russian I can't catch any error).I would like to thank the authors for the great package they offered the flight sim community. It is a beautifully made aircraft !Here are the set of procedures and switchology I use. My source was the an24.htm provided with the antonov_an24rv.zip package.Start-upEngines Parking brake - On (use keyboard) Check that propeller area is clear :-) Call Flight Egineer's Panel Button labelled "Би" on the extreme left of main panel, left of the Speed indicator Batteries - On. Release the button when the light goes out Generator switch - On. On the right Switch Bank, labelled "A3C" , Switch labelled "ГЕН.1", UP position Right Engine Left Engine - On. (you can use the heading information given by Fs when Shift-Z is pressed. If heading on gyro-compass not correct: set heading with "Задатчик курса" knob. Positions to the left of the Knob decrease heading to the right increase. Set the heading so it is the same as real heading. Turn radios using the "Avionics Master Switch on/off" keyboard command (i use ctrl-shift+A, check your assignment). I don't know why this is needed, but when I neglect this part I don't get any radio signal. Basic Navigation and radios are now ON and ready.Hope this helps. Corrections, additions and discussion welcome.CS-DNA
November 18, 200322 yr Thank you so much for this! I'm off to try it now since I've not been able to get this procedure to work yet.One question: I can tune the VOR radio to an appropriate frequency, and I can set the direction on the radio panel, I can even see the DME measurement, but where do I see that VOR deviation indicator? I don't think this a/c has an HSI, but how do I read deviation from the selected radial? Thanks again,Philip.
November 18, 200322 yr OK - I just tried this and the starter button does not actually energize the starters. If I manually assigned the engine starter to a key combination and then hold that key combo, the engine turns over correctly and then starts. Thus, I think this is a panel bug under FS9.
November 18, 200322 yr PhilipManwaring,I use fs2002, so I'm afraid I can't help with regard to the problemwith the energizer button.I suggest that you test the procedure several times and that youconfirm this behaviour with other fs 2004 users. If results are consistent you should send a message to the paneldesigner stating the problem, the test conditions and the procedureyou used. The email addresses for the authors are on the .html file that camewith the package. As for the absence of the HSI I guess it can be explained by theage of the aircraft. I guess HSIs are rather "recent" additions tocivilian avionics. The OBI is serviceable (at least in fs 2002) and also supplies the course deviation from the dialled course.Regards,CS-DNA
