December 12, 200322 yr ..or "Just how intelligent is AI anyway?"Bear with me while I set up the scenario. I fly 2K2 mostly around the West Coast of the US, it's where I live and I'm most familiar with the airlines, airports, scenery etc. I have Project AI commercial traffic loaded for American, United, Southwest, America West, British, Lufhansa, Singapore and Vigin (the latter 4 to populate SFO and LAX mostly). I still have the default GA traffic loaded.Anyway, last night, for a change I decided instead of flying commercial routes to try something different. Just up the road from me is Moffett Federal Airfield (KNUQ), home to the local branch of the California Air National Guard, and also the NASA AMES research center. They own the world's largest windtunnel - sadly about to be decommissioned. I decided to load the Learjet up with NASA scientists and fly down to Edwards AFB in the Mojave desert. I had to do a quick RAFCAD for Moffett since none exists and the only starting points were "Active Runway". I then loaded the Learjet and changed the callsign to NASA 820. Filed my plan, got clearance, and took off. Tower passed me off to Bay Departure as expected. I continued climbing, listening to the usual calls to Southwest and American flights in the area, when suddenly I hear Departure talking to ANOTHER NASA FLIGHT! I have NEVER heard any other NASA flights before this, at first I thought they were calling me, but no, they were talking to NASA 1865. As my flight continued I was passed to Oakland Center, shortly to be followed by my "Company" buddy. Same thing once I crossed into Los Angeles Center area - there he was behind me. I was just into descent for Edwards when some visitors turned up and I had to quit the flight, so I don't know if the ghost plane was going to follow me all the way to Edwards. Has anyone else had this happen (Assign a totally unusual callsign and see if anyone else with that callsign pops up)? I'd be curious to know. I'll try the flight again this weekend and see if I can repeat the phenomenum.:-abduct
