Aircraft Cfg. Edit FS2002

Featured Replies

I have been attempting to change the type/model entries in milton Shupes excellent Aero Commander 520 to reflect the accurate designations. While trying to save the changes I get the following, "Read Attributes Only, Save as Another File Name". I tried saving the file using both selections in the dropdown menu (text and all files) but cannot get the file to save. Would like to get ATC/AI pilot to use proper a/c type/model instead of flght# 1946. Any help would be appreciated.

My guess is that you are editing the file with the Aero Commander open already in FS. Try closing FS and then editing the file. When I edit CFG files I have no problem in saving over the original (always good idea to make a back up though!)directly in the aircraft folder. You can always unzip the AC to temp folder somewhere else (preferably My Documents) on your HD and the copy and paste to the active AC520 folder in MSFS.Hope this helps!

Try right mouse clicking the file, open Properties, then unchecking the Read only box.If that doesn't work, cut/paste the file to your Desktop, change it, and cut/paste it back to the AC520 folder.Hope this helps.Milton

Actually, I believe this is rather simple. I assume you are trying to use FSEdit from the recently released SDK's. If not, it may still apply. Won't hurt to give it a go if none of the other solutions worked for you.Look in the aircraft.cfg file for the plane and change the line under the General settings from:editable=0toeditable=1EDIT: Sorry, I see you are using FS2002. If you are using the editor that came with it this may certainly apply.

Appreciate the replies.Problem was resolved using properties. Again thanks to all.
