December 14, 200322 yr I have a 3 GHz P4, 1 GB PC3200, 128 MB ATI 9800 Pro, and 120 GB Seagate SATA 7200 rpm 8 MB Cache hard drive. My settings are all maxed out except I keep autogen off and AI traffic off and I use 4x FSAA and 8x AF. What will loading times and frame rates be like on my PC with the LA Megacenery?
December 14, 200322 yr Are you serious ? You have a top end machine. I doubt they would even bother releasing the product, unless it could run well on much less of a machine than you have :)Seriously, you should have no trouble at all with frame rates. As far as the load times go, any package that loads custom scenery textures will take a lot longer to load that the default repeated terrain textures. That being said, once the scenery is loaded, your machine should have no trouble at all.P.S.- I Don't have MegaScenery, but have done lots of work loading custom textures (same thing).Allen
December 14, 200322 yr Well you do have a top end machine, no doubt! Megascenery does take some time to load, but I think it'll be very worth it with your system (I'd guess 2 minutes loading time). I think you'll find it especially pleasing, as you aren't using any autogen.-Daniel
December 14, 200322 yr dont get Megascenery. It sucks. It changes your FS settings without asking and the rest of the world will look stupid.Textures take ages to load and when you change your view from left to right you will get popping ground textures and stuttering.Megascenery is a nice idea but unless we dont have the whole world covered with Megascenery its useless.
December 14, 200322 yr >the rest of the world will look stupid.>What a very strange point of view. I take it you don't fly FS2004 because of the 'stupid' scenery? Whats next - not flying a great panel/aircraft because the rest aren't as good?>Megascenery is a nice idea but unless we dont have the whole>world covered with Megascenery its useless. As is this view.Ray Keattch.
December 14, 200322 yr If we say no to your question what exactly will you do to your system?:-)Ray Keattch.
December 14, 200322 yr Gameplayer,I use LA MegaScenery on my Dell P3 1Ghz, 512MB RAM, with NVidia GeForce2 Ultra. I experience hardly any framerate problems. Just use the settings they recommend and you will have unbelievably beautiful and realistic VFR flying. I know, I live in the L.A. area.Have fun.GrantM
December 15, 200322 yr I just wanted to note that yesterday, I installed megascenery on my old AMD1500+ with 512MB DDR and a 128MB ATI9000, 40GB 7200RPM HDD and it runs totally well with the recommended settings, you hardly notice the loading of textures and it's possible to fly in 1600x1200 rather smoothly (>20fps).Flying andwhere else with autogen on on that machine with a lower resolution is totally $%&
