July 13, 201114 yr Hi fellows,Just like topic title describes, after installing some software I reported some terrain inaccuracies, below shown on attachments.I´ve UTX (all of them), GEX (USA and EUR), FS Global 2010, aerosoft Madeira, REX2, FEX, Scenerytech, and some others wich i think would not interfere in this problem. What´s wrong in my installation! Thanks in advance
July 13, 201114 yr The FSX default elevation for those airports (and surrounding terrain) is wrong and needs to be corrected.FS Global 2010 comes with a tool for the user to correct wrong airport elevations. Proper elevations here.Cheers,- jahman.
July 13, 201114 yr The FSX default elevation for those airports (and surrounding terrain) is wrong and needs to be corrected. The bottom airport is Las Vegas, Nevada - KLAS. I doubt the elevation is "wrong". I understand the default Madeira is wrong on elevation, but the OP has a payware add on that, if installed correctly, will resolve any issues.Add on mesh overrides the synthetic blending of terrain that Microsoft implements. There is nothing inherently wrong with the OP's installation and there have been many, many, many postings about add on mesh and the plateau effect that it creates.
July 13, 201114 yr I never said the installation was wrong, just the deafualt FSX mesh and certain airports that Microsoft adjusted to match the elevation of their mesh, all this as explained to me by the delopper of the FS Global mesh product series, so I stand by what I posted. And even if I'm wrong, the OP can quickly and efficiently remove the plateau via my recommendation.Cheers,- jahman.
July 14, 201114 yr The OP asked "What´s wrong in my installation!" and that is why I said there is nothing wrong. Your comments were not what was being addressed. But I would like to say that if people start going around and changing airport elevations, just because they have some tool and can, they might end up with more problems then they started with. Let's address Las Vegas - KLAS. The picture shows the eastern / southeastern portion of the airport. Change the elevation to correct that part and you will mess up the west and north portion. Round and round it will go, where it stops...Also, changing elevations at smaller fields might be OK, but if someone starts mucking around at a KLAS they are going to be messing around with approaches and the elevation data that some contain. Soon the "Why do my planes land 1 mile too short or half way down the runway?" questions will appear. Some things are easy fixes. Some things are visual fixes. Some things are a little more complicated or sometimes, a lot more complicated. Turning people loose with a tool that changes portions of FSX can result in good or bad and advice to them of "...quickly and efficiently remove the plateau via my recommendation." can create more problems than they started with.
July 14, 201114 yr A quick fix here:http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?showtopic=39512&st=0&p=261999&hl=madeira&fromsearch=1entry261999
July 14, 201114 yr Author A quick fix here:http://forum.aerosof...=1 Thanks a lot PFL, problem solved...in Madeira Scenery. I completly forgot to check aerosoft forum :huh:But still the problem in LAS VEGAS. i´ve tried AFX tool, by changing the elevation, but without success, cause the elev. values are correct.(2181ft)
July 14, 201114 yr Well, there's always FS Global Ultimate (Americas) (25 GBy on 6 double-layer DVDs) with an even higher precision mesh that might solve your mesh problems around airports and in general improve the looks of mountainous areas.Alternatively (or additionally), FS Global Ultimate Europe/Africa (40 GBy on 5 double-layer DVDs) includes their AFM - Airport Flattening Meshes DVD for free (but can be purchased separately), so you can make the mesh coincide exactly with the correct elevation of all airports in FSX (although each airport flattening mesh must be individually selected).Cheers,- jahman.
