Incredibly Low FPS on FS9 - Revisited. !!!! HELP !!!! see ALL

I have done a clean installation of Windows XP in my computer, because I was having lots of crashes after I did a repair of a damaged windows XP. In the clean Install I just finished yesterday, I updated all the drivers, and added all the Updates included in the Windows Updates Feature. The PC is an Allienware 51M Lap top , P4 2.4, 500 mega Ram, 60 gigas HD, and an ATI 7500 with 64 megas on board. Prior to the repairing of WIN XP, FS9 ran beutifully and gave me good fps (around 17, FPS slider fixed at 18)and good fluidity (no Stutters). After the full reformatting I reinstalled FS9 and with the stock version (no addons, no sceneries) all I get is max 7.5 and very sttuterish (no fluidity).A fellow simmer Mr.W. Sieffert (the only reply I got from previous posting on same subject), suggested to update the drivers of the Mobo , which was done, as well as those of the graphics card. This has all been done but all I get a very badly behaved unusuable FS9. Might have to swith to X Plane. :(Could you guys lead me in a path that could solve this? i.e should I install the original ATI 7500 drivers, the initial driver of the MOBO ( as when I bought the Laptop ?), are there any changes that can be made to the FS9.cfg ?Another thing that I notice is that I get better frame rate with the 3D cockpit than with the 2D.BTW I run on DirectX 9.0b and I installed SP1Looking forward to your helpEdmundo Cardenas van GriekenKPDK

Is DMA turned on on your disk? Also, check the SpeedStep sttings in your BIOS; it might be running at 1GHz by mistake. Also, if you had installed any overclock tweaks for your graphics, you need to do that again.

I would install the driver you were using for ATI card first to see if that helps, also check the DMA on your hard disk making sure its on.

I had a similar problem with very low frame rates and stuttering using FS9 under windows XP. Beleive it or not, I simply increased my screeen's refresh rate from 60hz to 70hz and my fps jumped from about 10 to 20fps. also, there was no more stuttering. i know it sounds too easy but it is definitely worth a try.Intel Celeron 1.4ghz128MB SDram64MB graphics (intel 82810E)Windows XP home
