August 6, 201114 yr Hi All I just bought a new computer, and I have installed FSX. But, when I start FSX it starts building the initial files and then it crashes. I have tried reinstall FSX which is stupid, because it was already a new installation. I am runnung FSX in compatible mode, UAC is disabled, and just to be sure I still run it as an administrator. I have updated the grafics driver. I tried removing my Flight Simulator files folder, so no previous files are the reason. I have tried installing the acceleration pack, but nothing. I am usingWindows 7 x64.Asus Geforce GTX 570i7 processor. I am a bit lost here, so I hope you can provide a next troubleshooting step. TanksBo
August 11, 201114 yr Instead of reinstalling FSX, delete or rename the FSX.cfg, restart FSX, and let the config rebuild. That solves a multitude of problems with FSX not starting. UAC should have been disabled before installing FSX and Acceleration. Any anti-virus program should have been disabled too before installation as sometimes these programs interfere with the installation process, and, to save you from malicious software/files, it will not install suspected files. You indicated you "tried removing my Flight Simulator files folder, so no previous files are the reason". That indicates to me that you may be trying to use your previous FSX setup and moved files over to the new system. That's okay but you cannot use your old fsx.cfg and you should not use an old scenery.cfg as that could lead to issues. You said you tried installing Acceleration. Did it install successfully? Acceleration includes SP1 and SP2 for FSX so you want to have a successful install or reinstall SP1 and SP2. Remember, everytime you reinstall FSX or repair it, you have to also reinstall SP1 and SP2 OR install Acceleration. Best regards,Jim
