Before I return this graphics card ...

Maybe someone can shed some light on this problem. I'm running an HP Pavilion 933 (XP home) with an onboard 16 mb Vanta card/chip. I've upped the RAM to 512 (on a 133 bus), and have really nice results with FS2002. Thinking I might want to run FS9 on this system (a challenge, I know), I thought a new video card might be in order. So, not wanting to buy a card worth more than the computer, I bought a Radeon 9600SE 128. I installed the card, drivers, etc., and experienced an unacceptable drop in FPS and the loss of some texturing on certain aircraft. I installed the new 3.10 drivers and experienced the same thing.Upon removing the card, and installing new nVidia drivers, all is well again. Do I just have too little processor for the new card (any card)?Regards,Leon

Did you disable the on-board video chip before installing the ATI card? Generally speaking, if your PC has on-board audio or video, it is necessary to disable either one in BIOS before installing an external card.

No I didn't, Dean, but I'll reinstall the card and do that. I'd really like to make this work if I can. Thanks for the response.Regards,Leon

Also, don't forget DirectX 9.0b.......

Thanks guys,I worked with that card and associated software for a day and a half, and just could not get there. I don't have a 'disable' option in the set-up mode, only an option to change video recognition to the AGP at boot - nor does this motherboard have any jumpers. However, with the latest nVidia driver, I've gained a few FPS and this old system now handles some of the more challenging a/c (FS2002)quite well. We'll see if I can choke it down with FS9 in a few days.Leon
