Textures Wont Load!

Featured Replies

This started happening to me about a week ago, when I would select an aircraft, in the preview, only about half or less of the textures would load, I thought once I get into the game it will be fine, but nope, and now today no texture will load, the only ones that load are on the default Cessna, other then that nothing, the plane just appeara Grey and un textured, the scenery and everything is fine just no plane textures, anyone have any idea's why?

I fixed it, after doing some tweaks to windows the other day, one setting changed were adjusting for best performane of Cache instead of Programs.

Kurt, I had a similar problem, but not as bad. I could get the plane loaded ok, but when I was flying and I switched to spot view it would take forever to load sometimes, and sometimes it wouldn't and all of the outside scenery would go fuzzy as well. I'd appreciate it if you could post what other fixes or tweaks you made besides the cache one. Thx!billg

Kurt, I just tried changing from "programs" to "cache," and is it my imagination or is the sim running a lot smoother? Still early to tell, but first impressions are very good. Anyone else know the ramifications of making this change? Thx.billg

Your first problem about textures, I am not to sure cause I do not have an ATI card, but that can be caused sometimes by certain textures not having Mip Map's removed, does that happen on all planes or just some?Yeah it seemed to run smoother when it was set to "cache", but for me that caused some the texture problems, only in FS however, maybe those like you you have high end machines, fast processor, lots of Ram, and really good Video card can use that, the big thing with the change from the site with the tweaks was that it put most of the files XP uses in the RAM and leaves them there, so windows will be much faster, I did noticed a slight increase in log on time and other things in general.

Kurt, it's just some planes. The iFDG MD-11 is really bad for me when it comes to filling in textures--it corrupts all of my other textures sometimes as well as being slow--while the Stone MD-11 is fine. Don't know if one or the other of these has Mip Map's or not...billg
