Need some help with the planing (Fuel/range etc)

Hi all. First i want to say that i was one of the ones who had activation ishues. but after reinstall of FS and ngx. no probs what so ever. So now that i have the keys to this wonderful plane, im looking at the manual, trying to figure out how to plan the trip. Im browsing the tabels in manual vol.1 for the 738. And im looking at the long range cruise and fuel table, and the info on the subject at PI.26.6. Now i think i understand the use of the tabels, but what is this Check point? Is this the time stated in the "Reference Fuel and Time Required" table or some other point/fix? Christer
