database error on startup

Featured Replies

I've installed simconnect properly and load up evolution and get the database error. I see where access is denied in the log below, but I have everything shared properly with the home group, both read and write. Running windows 7 on both desktop and laptop. 1:55:51 AM:0087 - Loading Application Data Path1:55:51 AM:0087 - Application Data Path = C:\Users\Scott\AppData\Roaming\HiFi\ASE1:55:51 AM:0102 - Loading Application Executable Path1:55:51 AM:0102 - Application Executable Path = C:\Program Files\HiFi\ASE1:55:51 AM:0102 - ASE load commencing...1:55:51 AM:0102 - Verifying Active Sky Evolution License1:55:51 AM:0180 - FSX Path Value = \\Scottgerfen-pc\s\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\1:55:51 AM:0211 - FSX My AppData Path Value = \\SCOTTGERFEN-PC\Users\Scott Gerfen\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\1:55:51 AM:0227 - FSX My Docs Path Value =1:55:51 AM:0243 - ASE settings have been loaded...1:55:52 AM:0038 - Initializing ASE1:56:41 AM:0958 - FS station database needs updating...1:56:42 AM:0005 - Failed to write wxmapping.bin file (error code: 1): Access to the path '\\Scottgerfen-pc\s\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Weather\wxmapping.bin' is denied.1:56:42 AM:0005 - Debug ec_id =1:56:42 AM:0021 - Debug ec_lat = 01:56:42 AM:0021 - Debug ec_lon = 01:56:42 AM:0021 - Debug ec_elev = 01:56:42 AM:0021 - Debug ec_name =1:56:42 AM:0021 - Debug ec_len = 01:56:42 AM:0021 - Debug ec_arraylen = 99611:56:42 AM:0021 - Debug ec_num = 01:56:42 AM:0021 - Debug ec_char = 1:56:45 AM:0390 - FS Station Databases Updated Successfully!1:56:45 AM:0578 - World Magnetic Model has been loaded...1:56:45 AM:0890 - ASE shutdown commencing...1:56:45 AM:0999 - ASE waited for threads to end, now checking for live threads...1:56:45 AM:0999 - ASE closing mConnect...1:56:45 AM:0999 - ASE Killing controls...1:56:45 AM:0999 - ASE checking shutdown status...1:56:45 AM:0999 - ASE Forcing shutdown...1:56:45 AM:0999 - ASE Saving options.cfg...1:56:46 AM:0014 - ASE Killing options and main controls...1:56:46 AM:0014 - ASE Cleaned up...1:56:54 AM:0064 - Wx Station Database loaded: 11903 station(s)1:56:54 AM:0938 - Airports Database loaded...1:56:54 AM:0938 - Loading Additional Weather Stations...1:56:55 AM:0250 - Additional stations database load compete for 1704 stations1:56:55 AM:0265 - SimConnect found and initialized

Hi, This path is not Read and Write enabled from the client to the server: \\Scottgerfen-pc\s\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Weather\wxmapping.bin It might be difficult/impossible to enable that because you have FSX installed into the Program Files folder and Win 7 really protects that folder from any changes.

What's your suggestion? Reinstall Fsx into a different folder?

Hi, If you don't have too many add-ons installed, then yes.Something like C:\FSX

No pretty much just installed it. But I would like to keep it on separate drive. Don't install into program files is what you're saying?

Hi, Correct, another drive would be fine. Uninstall ASE, manually delete the 2 ASE folders, and re-install ASE also. You can re-install ASE anywhere you would like.
