Icing in FS2004

Featured Replies

Hi,For me icing is modeled in FS9 as far as instruments are concerned. For instance if I fly in icing conditions without having turned on the Pitot tube heat then the airspeed indicator reads 0 due to icing. However I do not believe that icing has an impact on the flight model - normally it should increase weight and drag -Anyone can confirm this ?Thanks,Tony

Airframe icing is definitely modelled, you just can't see it. Set icing to severe then take a Cessna up into the clouds. You'll soon find yourself constantly retrimming and adding power just to maintain altitude.BlairCYOW

Hi Blair and thank you for your input

Wanna see ice?Get SAS Dc9. (See later thread in this forum)See windows ice up!What a plane and panel, not for the faint hearted.

>Yes.............. but will you "feel" the same (sheer panic),>as though it's a real aircraft? :)Heheheh....definitely not!!!I just completed an IFR training flight this morning with 1.5 of actual instrument time in solid IMC here. Shortly after we entered the soup my instructor said, "What's the outside temperature?".Fortunately, here in South Texas in early January the readout was 58 degrees!!!

It was just something to keep in mind....L.Adamson
