Strange AI traffic behavior in FS9

Featured Replies

Has anyone else noticed unusual things happening to their AI traffic, such as taxiing into position and staying there, or taxiing onto the runway and just disappearing? I haven't played around with modifying any of this in FS9 like I did in the earlier version so it's nothing I've done. I've still got FS2K installed. Is there any possible way that the two programs could be conflicting?Any ideas would be appreciated.

The planes disappear because you live in "Big Sky" country. I couldn't resist . First having FS9 and FS2002 on same computer does not effect anything. They are totally independent of each other. And yes planes do disappear. Have read in other threads that ATC will delete a plane that has sat on runway for five minutes or more. I am using Ultimate Traffic and it happens there also. AI traffic is sometimes very strange but remember it is a $50 program and for the most part excellent. If you are into traffic try doing some of your own traffic plans. Get Traffic Tools and read up on what happens to 3rd party aircraft etc.

LOL!!It is indeed true that FS9 will delete AI traffic if it is sat for aprox 5mins....the read-me's supplied with both Just Flight, and Project AI's traffic addons state that this will happen...and it does!! As for traffic sitting on the runway, or vanishing from the runway after landing is that there is nowhere for that plane to go!! If you have the default airport, then the number of gates/ramps/parking available are frequently far less than are needed to accomodate all the extra AI traffic generated by Just Flight, Project AI, or Ultimate AI, and so in order to keep things moving, FS9 deletes the wayward aircraft as soon as it realises that it has nowhere to park!!Afcad2 and the new airport Afcad files are eliminating this odd looking behaviour by opening up all those missing gates, etc! It won't though, stop aircraft from dissapearing from in front of you when you're sat at the head of a runway, in a queue, waiting for ages to take-off......
