January 5, 200422 yr Hi there all -Just a new note really too tell you all of the great Boeing 737-400 panel that was recently uploaded to avsim. It's great.Used in combination with a recent sound FX panel addon thing that was recently uploaded you will find that your default simualation experience will be enhanced 1000x. (and hi to all Face to Face fans to :) - although they hate flying ;()I have a few payware planes - and they are excellent - the ultimate in learning what you'd be sort of required to do in order to fly an old plane in a pretty real life situation - (as I would understand it anyway - although obvously in a restricted simulated environemnt) - the CS 727 and F1 DC-9 - they are great but -they've sort of taught me that a great plane has to be flown from the panel really - and like the panels in the afore-mentioned payware planes are spot on - top notch - great stufff - looking forward to more but -- and I suppose it isn't really a 'but' really - I've found that finding a really good 737 is pretty hard - I've looked at the PMDG 737 - which hopefully I'll get eventually - it's just the downloading a big file on dial-up without a download manager I don't fancy attempting really - although this may have changed recenty - don't know -but basically if you're stuck with the default 737 - which is good enough - cause I like having a virtual ccokpit - although the oustide model ain't the best (come on Microsoft - you can do (or should be able to do) a lot better than that) - anyway yeah - the 2 files you want are -panel_b737-400_fs2004.zip by Alex Kratzand fdsfxpnl.zip by Marcus Thompson- bit of a big one the second - but good- I have a panel.cfg file that incorporates the default 737 virtual cockpit - it ain't the perfect combo - bit good enough for me plus I've also edited the colour of the fdsfxpnl bitmap to fit in more with the 737 panel as mentioned above - although I wouldn't like to distrube without the author's permition - it's not too hard to do yourself anyway - but if anyone wants the panel.cfg I could maybe post it here or at least how to do it -- but in any case - great freeware - thanksEdit - SP
January 5, 200422 yr Glad to hear your having fun with my FlightDeck SFX panel. Hope to add several new voice-sets as time rolls along. (Currently working on a Korean Air set for our simmers in the Far East).marcus
January 5, 200422 yr Hi Marcus,I just wanted you to know that my son & I both enjoy your flight deck panel. Thanks!Gary
January 5, 200422 yr I should like to agree with Fivelimagolf that I too am very pleased with, however......I can't! The reason being; for some reason it causes FS9 to crash at random intervals, or will stall violently at aprox FL260 for no apparent reason - everythings going smoothly, speed is good, the climb is stable, then the plane just falls out of the sky!!On a more cosmetic note, I did find that a couple of switches are actualy labelled the wrong way around!! Look at the Arc/Rose and Nav/GPS labels and try the switches.....OK, easy to fix with PaintshopPro, but something I would have thought that the author might have noticed before releasing the panel!Maybe the crash/lockup is due to a conflict somewhere with other gauges, etc in my system and other folks don't experience this....I used both 737-400, and his 737-300 panel (also with the reversed labeling!), and both planes now crash the sim. If I revert to the default, everything is fine.Shame really, because the panel does look good, and looks like it could be a lot of fun to use once I figure out what I did wrong to cause the stall!!
