January 5, 200422 yr Hey everyone!! Nothing against the Seattle airport, but does anyone know how to change to your "home" airport and make it the default whenever FS2004 is started up? I have searched the config files and cannot find anything. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! cg
January 5, 200422 yr If memory serves me well, which would be a first, as you save your flight there is an options to make default airport. You do not need to alter config.
January 6, 200422 yr Ronald,Thanks for your response....I think I have tried doing that, but it always defaults back to KSEA when I re-start FS9. I didn't know if anyone had found a way to make it change or not....and I am one who shuts down every night after flying....I'll give it a look. Thanks!
January 6, 200422 yr Indy: When you are sitting on the runway at your favorite airport, do a File/Save-Flight. In the dialog box that appears, pick a name for the flight and check the box that says 'make default' or something similar. Then, quit FS and go back in. If that doesn't do it (it should), do the same thing but give the flight the name 'Default'. Good luck.sjKEWR
January 6, 200422 yr Yes, this is true. You can make anywhere your startup location in this fashion. I have mine set to use the default Baron at KRNO, GA parking loc 6, with a completely cold and dark cockpit. This is what is automatically displayed under the "Create a Flight" option; one can still change the a/c or location or the day/time or the wx situation. Keep in mind that when you save a flight and make it the default, you get ALL of the settings existant at the time of the save (baro, eng settings, wx, etc) except for the date/time (if you are using the computer time). Since I like to fly with the real wx setup, I usually do a manual select of the real wx first so that it is already loaded when I get into the cockpit; I then go through the full startup procedure for the a/c in use, request taxi to the active, etc. etc. If this is all too real...you can set your default to a non-towered airport, at the end of the active with engines running, just as well.Larry S.
