'GA AI Traffic generator' in progress

Featured Replies

Hi all, last year I posted a anouncement of a new project called 'GA AI Traffic generator'This programm is planned to give you the ability to generate 'realistic' GA AI traffic.Planed features are:+ Use of all installed airports, stock and additional AFCAD2 mades. This feature is currently programmed and should work next week.+ Use of airport features like:- number of runways- type of runways- length and wide of runway- available GA parking spaces (different size)- number of non GA parking spaces- Fuel available? Type of Fuel?- controlled/uncontrolled tower?- lighting of runways- landing aids (like VASI etc.)- ILS or simmilar- public approaches available?+ Aircraft specifics- like speed- fuel- engine type- needed runway length for start/landing (computed out of the stall speed and other factors)+ Country specifics- number of GA airplanes- registration of GA planes- Timezone (only few GA traffic before and after sunset)+ 'Virtulal landing fees'. This is the heart of the GA traffic generation. The function will determine a 'Virtual landing fee' for every airport for different aircraft clases (small planes under 2t, planes over 2t and so on). The higher the 'Virtual landing fee' is the lower the number of 'Sunday flyers' will be. So on a great airport like Frankfurt/Main (Germany) you wouldn't see a little Cessna on Final. On a small airport like Lutzellinden (Germany/EDFL) you wouldn't see a Learjet, because the runway is to short and no NAVAIDS are there. Also the fee is used to get a frequencies of flights. On normal business days you would see more 'business' GA traffic (flying from the home airfield to regional bigger airports) on the weekend you would see more 'Sunday flyers' making practics flight, you will see student make Touch and go's and so on. This would be all made by a configuratenable system, so if the BETA testers found the values needs tweaking it should be possible.+ On airport level aircraft assignment, means youre home airport use the aircraft you set to itThe current feature set isn't finished, so if anyone has ideas or would like to help on ALPHA/BETA test, please contact me on PM here or via e-mail ([email protected]).The timeplan for the programm is:+ programming of the functions to read airport BGL's (finished mid January)+ programming of the 'Virtual landing fee' generation (end January)+ generation of the GA flight plans (mid January)+ User interface (mid January too mid February)The ALPHA/BETA test could start in February, at best. The best of the programm is it would be FREEWARE.Happy new Year and

Does sound great, but will it work if a user has installed Ultimate Traffic? Wouldn't want to lose the excellent airline traffic generated by that program...Best,Joel

Hi Joel,no problems here. FS2004 can handle more than one traffic file. So there would be the Ultimate Traffic one (best disable the GA aircrafts in UT) and one with only GA traffic in.I also use UT so, I will do everything to get both together.

Thanks, sounds like a much needed program!Best,Joel
