What exactly do we mean when we say "CTD"? Crash To Desktop, I know, but are there different types of CTD's? I've experienced the Black Screen of Death (which I consider to be a CTD of sorts because that's where I end up) with the option to restart FS and report to MS or not. I've also run into situations where effects files create a conflict on my system and I find myself immediately looking at the desktop with no FS icon in the taskbar or HDD activity. BTW, I simply moved the effects files out of the Effects folder, and all was well again. I've had my entire system freeze before, requiring a pensive finger to the power button and a reboot. I will only breathe the name of the Blue Screen of Death with austere reverence in an attempt not to inflame its wrath for the first time in association with FS...With all the talk of CTD's in this forum, what kinds of CTD's are we talking about here? I have been experiencing them in piles, heaps, mounds, and buckets (and not in the ways other folks are reporting them), but that's another topic for another posting soon to come. I have gotten a few blue screen crashes, but mostly my system freezes with the screen displaying distorted horizontal lines (the image is broken up but it is still the underlying FS image) and a repetitive, stacato bit of engine sound. I did see someone else mention these symptoms.The only fix I have tried is editing the card ID numbers in Display.cfg. They were off by the last digit in DEV_ identifier. I also changed the minimum driver version to match mine.
