Flat Spins

Featured Replies

I have tried numerous times in FS2004 to accomplish a flat/flat inverted spin with no success. Is it possible in Flight Simulator? I have tried FFS Extra 300L, Default 300S, and RealAir Sf.260.any input on the topic is appreciated.

Your best bet for spins, is the RealAir SF260................ although I don't remember if I've tried the FFS Extra. But I doubt you'll get it into a total flat spin. To initiate a flat spin, it might take a rearward CG, power at the wrong time, or bad luck. Wayne Handley performed continous inverted flat spins in his original Raven aerobatic with lot's of power during the descent. And many others never recover from a flat spin, including aerobatic planes. Looks like we had a "twin" flat spin to the ground a few days ago, around here.Link to interesting flat spin story...http://www.iland.net/~skydon/crashpoem.htmlL.Adamson

Vertical;Try this cfg file in Kirk Olsson's F16. She'll only spin if you hold the aileron all the way over; but she does high speed stalls. At least stalls FS9 style anyway. The only way I could get a really good spin was to make the aircraft so loose, it really was hardly flyable in normal flight.http://www.x-plane.org/users/mgdbottled/F16FM.zip

Don't expect too much here. No Flight Sim that I know of fully calculates all of the factors involved in "non-flying" outside of the envelope conditions. You may or amy not be able to get something resembling a spin in certain MSFS aircraft but it will not have much relationship to what happens with the real thing.TonyDigital-Flight
