Please indulge me one last time - Marc's response

Featured Replies

I e-mailed Marc yesterday Tuesday and I have just received his reply. I'm sure he won't mind if I post it here in the earnest hope that this will help finally to bring this matter to closure.Hi Michael Me: Hi Marc, I have always regarded you with the utmost respect for the ways in which you have dealt with your customers, including myself, over the years. You have always been helpful and courteous when responding to our difficulties. Marc:Thanks and i will continue this way. Me:However, as you are doubtless aware, your reputation has taken some bruising over the past few days and I am genuinely concerned that you should move soon to halt the cries of anguish and anger currently being expressed by some members of the community. Marc:Yes i know, i'am very sorry for any inconvience that i has caused anyone and i will more than happy to help with getting the older version back up, they can email me at [email protected] to received it. Me:You will note that I have started a thread entitled "In defence of Marc Philibert" in the MS Flight Simulator General Discussion Forum and it is receiving a mixed response. I continue to support you and I can only assume that your recent actions, while well intentioned, were either a mistake on your part or you simply misjudged the likely reaction to any mechanism which involved the disabling of software and deletion of files on remote systems without prior warning and without their owners' permission. Marc:Thanks for your support, yes it was a mistake, but a new version was release to patch this problems, but probably too late, i know other developers have withdrawn with such comments as it partained to them and put fuel on the fire. Me:It now seems very clear that this issue will not go away soon unless you respond to these accusations. I am sure I have no need to state that the consequences of maintaining silence could prove very serious indeed. Therefore, for your own sake, can I respectfully suggest that you summon the courage to post a statement on Avsim as soon as possible. Marc:I have explain it to user that email me, in the thread thru bobbyjoh as well. I didn't know that you have started a new thread, infact i never look to discussion forum until someone send me an email about it. Me:Most people are reasonable and many, like me, will be prepared to give you the benefit of any doubt, I'm sure, once we read your explanation. Marc: Hope this helps clear up the many concerns that have been expressed in this forums. BTW FS_Meteo V6.4 will work with fsuipc v2.x or fsuipc V3.x registred or not, and it still support FS98, FS2000, FS2002,CFS2, but with FS2004 fsuipc v2.x will not work.Kind Regards,Marc By now you will have gathered how seriously I regard this matter. By allowing themselves to rush to judgement an individual's reputation has been threatened by the unfair treatment handed out by some on this forum. Can any one of us, myself included, hold our hands up and say we have never committed a silly mistake, but, having admitted to that error of judgement, hoped for forgiveness? I do hope you will all join me in learning from this experience, forgive and forget and move on to happier topics of discussion. And that, you will be relieved to read, is my last word on the subject!Mike

Seems like a bunch of leading questions for Marc, so you could "lecture" the community on the error of their ways. What else could Marc say?Truth is, had the others accepted this as a given and not said anything, they'd be stuck paying for an upgrade just as the community accepts paying for MSFS patches every two years.Marc should have sent a press release the minute the issue surfaced to all the major forums. That would have gone a long way towards reducing the flak. We live in a world where we are hustled, hassled, and huckstered 24/7. And our hobby is much the same way....you know there are vendors out there who seek every way they can to get a dime from the deep pockets of our community.I applaud Marc for admitting a "mistake", but how about a public apology vs. one through proxy? As I mentioned before, I am not a FSMeteo user, but those who are who've suffered the stress of losing data or nearly losing it are at least owed that much, and they are owed latitude and no lectures from anyone on being human, and reacting in a human way to the situation.-John
