Using FS2004 scenery in FS2002

Featured Replies

A few months ago I bought FS2004 and discovered that it runs way too slow on my1.67 GHz P4 HP Pavilion, even with all the display settings set to low levels. In fact it was so slow and crashed so frequently that I uninstalled it and reinstalled FS2002 Professional, which runs much better. One of the things I really liked about FS2004 though, isthe improved scenery over major cities (especially around my hometown of Denver, CO)and the midwestern U.S. Is there a simple way to swap out these scenery directories in FS2002, using thosefrom FS2004 (assuming I reinstall it)? Using Denver, for example, I would copyFS9SceneryWorldDenverto FS2002ScenedbWorldDenverI can't remember the exact directory names since I don't have them in front of me right now....but you get the point.Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

First off, I'm suprised you could not get FS2004 to run to your satisfaction. I have an older 733MHz Pavilion and after pulling the nVidia Vanta card that came with it and replacing it with a 64MB GeForce 4 Ti it runs just find with moderate graphics settings. I'd suggest (a) upgrading your drivers and (:( checking the posts here for solutions to some crashing bugs.Second, as for the scenery, I don't believe you can do this. MSFT changed the scenery formats between versions and if FS2002 doesn't outright crash I'd be suprised if anything worked.
