Some Key Assignments that Have Me Confused...Please Help.

Featured Replies

I've been looking at my key assignments and I've found a lot that I just don't have a clue what they do or what airplanes use them. Here I have them listed on which command menu you can find each.I tried them on a few airplanes, seeing what would happen and well nothing did. I was wondering if anyone can shed some light as to what the following do/are used for and what airplanes use them. Thanks for your time!------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------AUTOPILOT COMMANDSSelect Altitude BugSelect VSI BugGENERAL AIRCRAFT COMMANDSDecrease Helo Governer BeepIncrease Helo Governer BeepENGINE COMMANDSPrimer Prime/LockReheat/Afterburn On/Off(Set Fuel Transfer Aft, Auto, Forward, Off...I sort of know what these 4 are but do any FS9 airplanes use them? I see no difference in fuel flow when I press them)INSTRUMENT COMMANDSAlternate Static Source On/OffBackup Electric Vacuum Pump On/OffSelect EGTVIEW ALL COMMANDSTrigger Rotor BrakeRotor GovernorClutch ToggleThanks again for anyhelp I can get :D!PS. Even if they aren't used in FS9 but you know what they do in real life please explain anyway.

I'll take a stab:AUTOPILOT COMMANDSSelect Altitude Bug - Set A/P altitude by twisting a knob on the altimeter on aircraft so equippedSelect VSI Bug - Set A/P altitude by twisting a knob on the altimeter on aircraft so equippedGENERAL AIRCRAFT COMMANDSDecrease Helo Governer Beep - Used for overspeed warnings on helicopters with an engine governerIncrease Helo Governer Beep - Used for overspeed warnings on helicopters with an engine governerENGINE COMMANDSPrimer Prime/Lock - Primes the engine on planes with manual primers (like the J-3)Reheat/Afterburn On/Off - When at 100% throttle engages afterburners on jets that have themINSTRUMENT COMMANDSAlternate Static Source On/Off - Used to recover the pitot-static system when the exterior static ports get blocked (e.g., with ice)Backup Electric Vacuum Pump On/Off - Engages backup pump should primary one failSelect EGT - Selects the exhaust gas temperture guageVIEW ALL COMMANDSTrigger Rotor Brake - Slows/stops rotor blades on choppers with a rotor brakeRotor Governor - Engages/disengages rotor governorClutch Toggle - Engages/disengages rotor clutchSome default aircraft (such as the J-3 Cub and Robinson R-22) use some of these. The others are there so add-on aircraft can take advantage of them.

Hey thanks a lot, you really cleared a lot up for me. If I have anymore in the future I know who to turn to now :(.Thanks again.

Set Fuel Transfer Aft, Auto, Forward, Off... Is left over from the Concorde model, as is raise/lower visor.Dan

>Hey thanks a lot, you really cleared a lot up for me. If I>have anymore in the future I know who to turn to now :(.>>Thanks again. Most of the mousable switches have keyboard equivalents, but some of the gauges and commands are not mousable - the EGT bug in piston props for example is activated by the `U` button and then moved by the standard `+` or `-` keys. I don't think that brown bug has an equivalent mouseable command. Likewise, some of the assignments are leftovers from older versions of FS, or are held in reserve for use by enterprising designers - the `wing fold` command has been used for a variety of visual effects by developers.Allcott
