January 16, 200422 yr Well, to start out I thought one of those cool autostart programs that lets you open several programs at once with the click of the FS9 icon would be nifty. Well, it apprears that even after reinstall the "nifty" feature has become a complete nightmare. I don't know whether the icon itself didn't get uninstalled or what but the other (now notably annoying) programs keep popping up. I've poured over the FS9 config file to no avail... Any suggestions guys?! I'm at a loss!Signed,Anthony Fluhart (the now Alt+Ctl+Del Wiz!)[email protected]
January 16, 200422 yr Anthony,Which autostart program were you using? I use FS Autostartup by Konrad Koch and have absolutely no problems. Works like a charm. If you are saying that you uninstalled the autostart program yet the programs you had set up still start with FS9 then I am sure that something was either written to the registry or a cfg file somewhere that is doing that. If we know which program you used then maybe we or the author can help you track down the problem.
January 16, 200422 yr A bit more info might help someone to help you---What OS?What program?"that even after reinstall"-- reinstall of what- FS2004?Windows?or "the program"?How did you go about uninstalling it?Any other info you think is relevantDave
January 16, 200422 yr I have winXP, the program I used was FS Autostartup, I reinstalled (by uninstalling and installing over) FS9, the program doesn't have a uninstall simply because it is just a downloaded executable. All I want to know is if someone knows what file this program might have altered so I can fix it.Anthony
January 16, 200422 yr Well thanks for your help guys, I finally figured it out on my own. I had used two different programs. One program did have an uninstall and it scratched one program opening up off the list. I uninstalled the other two programs just to see if it would give an error to pinpoint its location. Well, apparently the other program I had used added a couple of lines of code to the FSUIPC ini file. So just for future reference you don't need a fancy program you can just add the following lines to that file yourself.[Programs]run1=x:program location here. Etc.Anthony
January 16, 200422 yr A straight "uninstall" of FS9 leaves a lot of stuff still in the system.....You could try uninstalling FS9 again ,then before you reinstall it go and delete any remaining files in Documents and settings, also check Programs/microsoft games and make sure everything there is gone .( enable "view hidden files " to be certain everything is gone.)Also run "regedit",back up your registry then check for and delete any references to Microsoft Games under HKEY_ Local_ Machine/software/microsoft/microsoftgames/flight simulator/9.0 also HKEY_ Current_ user/ etc etc.If anything goes wrong just import the registry backup and try again.Dave
