Is this worth it?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I bought FSX from the microsoft store, however unfortunately it wouldn't activate! I put in multiple petitions and in the end a friend helped me get it working using a no cd crack. I kept the original licence as I didn't want to play the game whilst not owning it, but the idea of using a crack didn't sit comfortably so I also bought the game from Amazon. Its arrived today and I've realised it also has acceleration with it. From what I understand, it's best to do a completely fresh install if I wish to add this. Is it worth me formatting my system (it is purely a flight simulation system so there is minimal backing up to do) in order to add acceleration to my game. Shall I instead just leave it as is, as I'm not interested in the aircraft which acceleration offer. I would need to reinstall GEX,UTX, REX, PMDG 737NGX, Mega airport Heathrow, all of the worldofAI packages.... Thanks! I have SP2 installed also.

IMHO it is not worth the effort to reformat your HD to reinstall FSX/Acceleration. However, unless you have a SSD HD, you must defrag after you install FSX and then again after installing Acceleration. For some reason, this software scatters files all over the HD during installation. It's good to defrag once in a while anyway. If you don't want the aircraft that comes with Acceleration, just install SP2. If you have SP2 already installed and you want Acceleration, uninstall SP2 first then install Acceleration. SP2 was coded so as you cannot install the aircraft and other things that come with Acceleration as SP2 is free and Acceleration is payware. Otherwise, it is the same as Acceleration. Some addon software programs require Acceleration and/or SP2 installed in order to work so be careful to look at the product specs before purchasing. There's a know problem with the activation process for FSX for some systems. Just do a Google/Bing search for FSX activation problem and you should see a number of solutions. Best regards,Jim
