Multiple PC set up - which program on which PC ?

Featured Replies

Greetings! I need some advice to assist in clarifying my thoughts - which are confused on this matter. I am putting together a 737 simulation using Flight Deck Solutions MIP, real throttle and real yoke. Everyhting is on track (more or less), however I have questions regarding the computer set up. I have two computers networked. One PC will have FSX installed and the other PC will have Sim Avionics installed. The first PC is the FSX machine and has one video card with 2 outputs (external displays or projector). The 2nd PC which has Sim A installed, has 3 video cards with 6 outputs, will power the monitors and CDU of my Flight Deck Solutions MIP. With regard to other programs, such as: AI Traffic, Active Sky Evolution & Aviasoft Electronic Flight Bag. Should these programs go on the same PC as FSX, or on the other computer running Sim Avionics? It's my thinking that FSX should remain alone on the one PC so that all RAM and CPU speed is used in driving the simulator and not add on programs. Guidance appreciated. Thank you, Iain

You should study the info off those addon programs. If they need to talk directly to FSX you can use them on another PC in the network. But then you have to use wideserver/wideclient (from Pete Dowson). Then the networked programs "thinks" it talks to FSX but infact it talks to wideclient on the second PC. Wideclient and wideserver (a dll that goes in to the dll directory of FS) do the real communicutaion on the network.Norbert
