Helicopter Dust Cloud Problem - How do you....

Featured Replies

I downloaded a new dust effect for my helicopters on FSX...In essence, it replaces the default with a huge dust cloud to simulate the "brownout" when landing on sand. But, as it replaces the default effect, this happens when you land on grass too which obviously isn't very realistic. Several Questions:-Is it possible to code this so you can have it as Smoke instead. When you press "I", the brownout effect comes on when you land on sand. And when you land on grass, you can use the default effect?I just tried doing it for [smoke system] and nothing appeared when i pressed "I". And when i nulled out the "dirt=fx-tchdrt" in the [Effects] section of the aircraft.cfg with "//", it didn't null it out in the Sim. When i went to take off, the dust cloud appeared again. Even after resetting the aircraft and so on. I have several fx files in my EFFECTS folder. fx_dustcloud_sfx_dustcloud_mfx_dustcloud_l andfx_tchdrt On my helicopter aircraft.cfg files, they have under the [Effects] section, fx_tchdrt and not the dustcloud effect. Sorry if i have confused anyone!
