Display problem with ATI Radeon 9800pro

Featured Replies

Just bought and installed this card and everything seemsto be working OK, except that if I collapse FS to desktopand then go back, I either get a black screen or the panelwith black background when I to full screen mode and am unable to change views or get correct display until pressingAlt-Enter to window mode and then again to full screen.Any advice appreciated and apologies if this has beenasked before.

I purchased and installed the same card about 3 weeks ago and haven't run across this problem yet. After I installed it I downloaded the newest drives from ATI's site. If you haven't done this yet, this would be a good place to start.

Make sure you download the latest drivers. Seems to me this is an issue with old drivers

I had the same problem when I fitted a Crucial/ATI 9800pro, kept crashing to desktop, noticed that the heatsick it came with was rather flimsy and suspected overheating. Sent it back to Crucial who replaced the card without any fuss. Fitted a Zelman AMD 600 Copper AGP Cooler, and an extra Zalman fan to blow air over the card and so far have had no problems. I'm now getting a stable 20-25FPS when previously getting 5-8FSP with the onboard AGP. Hope this helps.Regards David de Vere - London UK
