no sound on jets

Featured Replies

I have been playing around with this thing (fs 2004) for over a month. The game works really well except the jets haave no engine sound and also some of the prop planes. There is also no sound on ATC.The sound files are there but for some reason media player, ver 9 can't open them. Gives me an error "class not registered"I haven't seen this error posted anywhere.Any help appreciated.Bob

Bob, I also have this problem - what a relief to know that I am not the only one.The bad news is that I am a member of both BAVirtual and flight1 forums and no one seems really bothered to reply.I will keep trying, and I hope you do too. If you sample the sounds in FS9 Sounds folder, they will probably play okay. I guess the ATC will be the same. For some reason, FS9 does not seem to be calling on the sounds. For your reference, my sound card is Creative Soundblaster PCI128D and have got Quick Time Pro 5. What are your thoughts to upgrade to 6.5. It's about the only thing I've not yet tried?Keep in touch.Steven

Hey Steven,Thanks for replying. I don't have much time this morning to check into things, but I have an Icon for quicktime but it does not respond , so I don't think it works. Maybe I will download a player. My sound card Is "Soundmax Digital Audio"I will talk to you later, maybe we can figure this thing out.Bob

Thanks Kurt,I'll give it a try.Bob

Thanks Kurt,The only codec I found was the PCM Converter. When I tried to find the other 2 to install them ( namely IMA ADPCM and ADPCM ) I couldn't find them.I did turn off the PCM converter but that made no difference.I also tried Microsoft this afternoon but they suggested turning up the volume settings! ( if only it was that easy )Any suggestions welcome!Steven
