January 30, 200422 yr Hello,I understand that landclass tiles used by Flight Simulator are around 1km large. I was therefore wondering what happens if an area of 1km contains, for example, buildings, woodland and water. Does the tile take the major type (house, wood or water) and apply that to the whole tile or can it split the 1km tile into smaller components?Victor
January 30, 200422 yr Victor,The basic unit of landclass you refer to is called "area" and it will show landscape textures, roads, shorelines, buildings etc. which are taken from the FS database. Now, in order to get a continuity while flying over different areas the simulator is "blurring" the borders between adjoining areas in such a way that it seems to be a continous landscape. For your other question, it is possible to split a basic area unit into sub-units with defined boundries by programs such as Ground2K. Using this program you can decide that a certain part of an area will be, for example, dense forest (texture #021) and another part large city (texture #121).For more details look into the scenery design forum.Have funSeev
