Autogen tweak?

Featured Replies

Do people use this "tweak"? Is there any benefit in using it?TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=1000TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=800Cheers.

Simply put: it limits the maximum amount of autogen. By default you can get up to 4500 trees in one cell (which you won't see everywhere). With this tweak you lower that maximum amount. You could of course also simply lower the amount of autogen by pulling the ingame autogen slider to the left but then you lower all autogen everywhere. With this tweak and the slider at Extremely dense, you will see 1000 trees where there should be 4500 but you will see 100 trees where there are 100. When you simply lower the slider you would see 50 where there should be 100. These figures aren't real, I just use them as an example. And the mathematics behind all this is quite complicated, but I hope you get the idea. ;)I don't use these tweaks btw: I am an autogen nut and I want to see it all. ;)

Thans for the clarification Jeroen.

Try it yourself. It has a significant effect, as autogen is one one the major drags on frame rates (the other is cloud cover).Cheers,Noel.
