February 7, 200422 yr Hi,I have already posted this in the hardware forum, but it does not seem as populated as here, and I know there are many knowledgable people in this forum so prehaps I can paste my thread here without it getting removed?."Hi,I have 3 HDD's in my system, I want to replace the smallest HDD with a new one. What is the easiest way of getting all the data (inc OS) from the old drive to the new one. Also, any recommendations on a new HDD?, my mobo supports SATA, would this be worth going for?, also can I use SATA and normal IDE drives at the same time?, the other 2 HDD's are just normal IDE drives. Thanks in advanceDan."CheersDan.
February 7, 200422 yr I just went to a Western Digital 80 Gig drive--mainly to support my ever growing collection of MSFS aircraft :)The nice thing (at least it's true of Western Digital) is that included with the drive was cloning software... It took several hours to clone all 20 gigs of data I had, but once the process was done, I had an exact duplicate of my old drive and was able to boot off of it with no issues...I set up the drive in two partitions--one for the O/S and some older installed programs, and the other for newer programs and data... Reason I did this was so I could wipe the main partition easily when doing an O/S upgrade, without losing data...Due to my older MB, I stuck with an IDE drive... -John
February 7, 200422 yr Hi,Thanks for all of your reponses guys, great help, especially the bit about the HDD coming with some cloning software, interesting, as I was going to get an OEM drive (no software is assume), so if thats the case maybe an idea to get a boxed retail one.If thats the case with SATA, I may just stick to ATA133, not to worried about the file copying performance. Thanks againDan.

I have just put in their 120 gig drive as a second drive. I looked all over their site for a clone type utility but could not find it, even emailed them without a response. I bought the OEM unit, perhaps that why I did not get the software, any clues where I can get it.regardsAnthony
