FSAutostart decreased my FPS

Featured Replies

I use Windows ME on a computer I built myself. It has very little by way of software which starts up behind the scenes. I can typically get typically get free System Resources in the mid 90% range at start up. I was getting around 15 FPS on the ground or in the air. (Not too good to start with, I know.) I now am getting 9 to 10 FPS and lots of stutters. I get this whether I use FSAutostart or not. Seems odd, since the concept of the program makes a lot of sense, but that's my experience. The ONLY addition I made to my computer in the mean time was the Diamond DA20-C1 Evolution.GWAthlon 2000 running at 1.6 MHz 133mHz FSBDirectX 9.0bnVidia G-Force 5200 Ultra 128 Mb512 Mb SDRAMon board soundMS Sidewinder Joystick

A couple of thoughts---FSAutostart - if not being used ,your PC should be running exactly as it was before you installed FSAutostart as it doesn't start by default - only when you select it.When you turn it off everything srestarts back to your normal configuration. Is this happening with default aircraft? - ie:do you get the frame rate drop with a default C172 for instance? - or only with your new DA20. Reason I ask is because there is no doubt in my mind that some addon aircraft seem to have a bad effect on fps.Frame rates - on a fairly similar system(Athlon 2000 at 133/133- 1670KMhz: DX9a:Nvidia Ti4200 128mb:512Mb DDRAM: Ob sound -AC97)my frame rates seem to be rather better at around 17-20 on the ground ,30(locked) most everywhere else. One major difference is I'm now using XP - but I have run on this same machine with WinME /FS9 and still got pretty much the same. Are you perhaps running with some settings to high?Dave
