Howdy;I am basically computer illiterate and am seeking detailed instructions on how to instal an aircraft after downloading in zip format into fs 2000. I would like to install the j3 cub or some other taildraggerthx in adv

Hi,Well, I saw that just such a tutorial has been posted today on the main front page of avsim.. www.avsim.comAt the moment though, stuff can't be downloaded as they are apparently doing maintenance on the file library. But hopefully you'll be able to download it in just a while. It's under the FS2002 section of files but it would be just the same for FS2004. The only difference in FS2004 is that the gauges for an aircraft panel can be kept in the same folder as the panel for that aircraft. But that difference is totally an option. Gauges can go into the main 'Gauges' folder in FS2004 just the same as FS2002, OR be in the panel folder for the aircraft.Cheers,Jim

When you d/l an aircraft.zip save it anywhere you like (as long as you can find it- I have created a FS downloads folder here).Next unzip to a " new Folder" in the same directory.Open the folder - there will be(or should be) a Readme file which will give you detailed instructions. In the event there is no read me - the usual way is to copy or move the actual aircraft folder (will have a name indicative of the aircraft) to the MS Games/FS200/Aircraft folder. If there is a separate gauges folder then put the contents into FS2000/gauges.Some ( very few for FS2000 ) aircraft come with an installer in which case ,after unzipping just run the install .exe.Once you have done all this just start FS and you should see your new aircraft listed. Some aircraft d/ls are not complete aircraft - only texture(new color schemes) .If this is the case you will have to download the original aircraft separately then follow the readme's instructions to add the replacement textures.I'm sure that somewhere here you'l probably find a tutorial about all this , but I hope this helps anyway.Dave
