December 24, 201114 yr Afaik Force to sim time lets ASE use the weather from the day I selected in FSX. (Right...?) Now suppose I've started a flight and decide to fly on another day because I don't like the weather. How can I make ASE also change the weather to that day....? When I have ASE and FSX opened side by side in a window there is NO WAY I can make the weather in FSX change... It's stuck completely to what I started with...(I have to say that after all these years I still don't understand how ASE works... It's overly complicated imho. I wonder if AS2012 is easier to use...?)
December 24, 201114 yr Piece of cake. Change the date and time in FSX to what you want. Make sure it's set and fully loaded. Then, in AS2012, simply hit the "Refresh" button on the left side (on the top or bottom for ASE - I forget which now). It will immediately start downloading the new weather. Remember that it takes a couple of minutes or so to fully download then start implementing the weather. Also, if you have DWC, or you have any smoothing options turned on, it will take noticeably longer for FSX to start showing the new weather because it will transition more slowly (obviously - you've asked it to do just that). It always worked fine for me in ASE and is for sure doing so in AS2012, so you shouldn't have any problems with it. A better way of doing what you want though might be to find a METAR that you'd rather use and insert it in the Edit Wx window. If you still need dynamic wx then you could use the Historical Wx and download to there. That's all in the manual and is well explained, so I'll leave you with that to explore the options. But it does work quite well :(
December 24, 201114 yr Thanks for the reply but it doesn't work that way on my pc... I just did a test. I set Depiction mode to Standard to make sure there wouldn't be a delay in showing the weather. I had FSX and ASE in windows together. Force to sim time is enabled (which I have to manually enable everytime btw). I start a flight and I have specific weather. I change the date and I see the Active Date and Time in ASE changes to the new date. But the weather stays the same... I do it again and press Refresh. Weather stays the same. I changed the date from May to October: still the EXACT same clouds... I restart FSX completely and choose yet another date... NO CHANGE! The EXACT same clouds again. I see on the Main menu that things are being loaded and updated etc. but NOTHING changes in FSX...Something is really wrong here. As I said ASE is doing something because when I start up FSX I see my default weather for a few seconds and then I get something new, but it's the same weather no matter what... As I said, even the clouds are the exact same...!It's a shame because ASE weather looks a LOT better then the weather I create myself in FSX... Bummer.
December 24, 201114 yr Well, I'd be raising a ticket with HiFi then. Something sounds like it's not working there for sure, and likely they are the only ones who could come up with a solution for you. Bummer is right.
December 25, 201114 yr It works!!! I did a complete uninstall and reinstall of ASE and now it works as it should! Don't know what cause the problem, but I don't care as long as it keeps working. :(
