AMD 64 processor and FS

Featured Replies

Hi all,I like to know how the new AMD 64 processor perform with fs 2002/2004.Who has experiance with this new processor?Kind regards Jan

Jan,I have a fairly new Athlon64 3000+ with 4 flightsims and trainsim running, no issues. In CFS3 for instance, with all display sliders maxed at 5, if I point nose up to see only blue, the FRAPS.EXE framerates go to triple digits, the highest I've seen is 117 f.p.s. With same maxed settings normal CFS3 missions near ground level will be about the low 60's to upper 40s framerates, no stutters. FS9, flying around Seattle with Denny's 2004 payware Mesh installed: With my old P3 settings (high but not maxed) I get >60 f.p.s., with all maxed (except ground shadows) but no AA or AF >40 always. Maxed with 8 AA, and 8 AF its 25-35 :/, smooth as glass, but a bit less AA and AF works best. A Radeon card might improve this. MS trainsim: the default routes all limit out at exactly 60 f.p.s., dense payware routes (e.g. Cajon Pass and German RR 1) go about 24-36 frames, maxed sliders @ 1024 x 768 x32. Main thing is no problems, no issues, no disappointments in FS9, CFS3, MSTS, Rowan's BoB, Rowan's Mig Alley. EDIT: This is with regular 32-bit Win XP Home, not the new beta 64-bit OS.
