Default aircraft sounds "gone"

Featured Replies

I noticed a very strange problem last night. In both FS9 and FS2002, the default sounds for the 747-400 and 777 have gone! In their place is just a sound.cfg aliased to the 737-400! I have no idea how it has happened, nor why it has happened in both installations. Is there an easy way to extract the relevant sounds off the disks, rather than reinstalling, and if so how? I am only really concerned with the FS9 version at the moment. Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately, that's the way the sim comes by default! They don't give you separate sounds for the 3 big commercial jets. You've got to hunt down sets that sound good to you here off the library.Scott

I thought the default 747 & 777 had their own sounds?

Stick CD #1 in, and open MSGAME1 with either winzip or winrar or the XP zip utility, and then open the 'aircraft' folder. Go in and look for yourself - I did just to make sure before I responded to you the first time.Scott

Did so last night!!! Thanks for the help, I just didn't realise the default a/c just shared the 737 sound. Need to get my ears syringed I think!! :)
