January 7, 201214 yr Hi I have some trouble to understand what this means "....RMK AO2 SLP223 T00720039 50005"? RMK I understand that RMK stands for ReMarK. After a second thought I understand SLP223 is 1022,3 hPa and Temp 7 deg celcius dew point is 3,9 deg celsius but what does AO2 and 50005 mean?/Jonas Lundgren Edited January 7, 201214 yr by Jolun Jonas Lundgren
January 7, 201214 yr A02 means that the site is automated and HAS a precipitation sensor. If it were AO1, there would be no precip sensor. This does not mean the site is un-manned. If there is an AUTO after the ID in the metar ob, then there is no observer.3-Hourly Pressure Tendency (5appp). At designated stations, the 3-hourly pressure tendency groupshall be coded in the format, 5appp, where 5 is the group indicator, a is the character of pressurechange over the past 3 hours (see Table 12-7), and ppp is the amount of barometric change in tenthsof hectopascals (see Table 12-. The amount of barometric change shall be coded using the tens, units, and tenths digits (see paragraphs 11.4.7 and 11.5.4). For example, a steady increase of 3.2hectopascals in the past three hours would be coded "52032".
