FS 2k4 - Locks at start-up

Featured Replies

Hi gang..Thought I would relay my prob... have tried everything I can think of, but no dice so far. When opening fs2k4 - prog locks at splash screen.Problem started after installing Eric Marciano's A320 panel, along with the updates. First mistake was not reading the notes, and installing the gps_export.dll.Dug the 2k4 version out of the cab on original disc and replaced the faulty one. Should be back to normal... but still hangs.Installed the RealCRT gauges and data base along with the panel, and subsequently deinstalled everything when the prob started.I removed the fsSound.dll and deleted the FS9.cfg, and the sim WILL boot under a basic config file. I've made so many tweaks to the config, I'm trying to narrow the prob so that my original config file will work. I'm assuming it's something in the cfg that's causing it to hang - I've gone over the file, and removed some questionable entries, but still won't boot. Also - the FSUIPC log starts, but stops every time at '17012 AIRCRAFTc172Cessna172SP.air 'Any ideas would be appreciated...thanksCoot KCLE

Hello Coot,A quick word of "Thank you".I know this doesn't help you isolate the cause, but I was hunting about for a solution to the same problem, and prompted by your attempts at a workaround, I recovered a back-up copy of FS9.cfg and now I can fly once more. This is after 3 uninstalls and reinstalls (over the past few months), each time followed by recovery (from backup) of the entire fs9 folder. (Too lazy to reinstall scenery and aircraft mods.) This method only worked because I had neglected to seek out the FS9.cfg folder (tucked well away under XP courtesy of Messrs Gates & Co.), so it wasn't overwritten. I did, however, have to reconfigure buttons and stuff.Phew, if you can make sense of the bollocks above you can probably sprout wings of your own, never mind fixing the sim.We still need to know why the infernal thing decides to sulk without provocation - its going to happen again. But thanks to your efforts, I can fix it.RegardsBlue Pilot
