FS2004 3rd party model performance with AMD's

Featured Replies

I am having terrible trouble solving or finding a workaround to an issue concerning an AMD 1.8 machine, 256 ram, 64 mb video. FS2004 runs OK, until 3rd party models are added. The machine then turns into a slideshow, maintaining a good framerate but stuttering badly. These are not particularly heavy weight models and the problem does not arise when run on an Intel based machine with virtually the same specification. If anyone has experienced similar problems and have found a fix or workaround, I would appreciate any advice on how to solve these issues.[/font size]

I have a AMD XP2200 1.8ghz512 meg DDR ramGeForce 5200 FX Ultra 128megand I don't have the problem you are describing.Maybe the extra ram does the trick for me.Jon

Similar setup here. Think more RAM is the key. 768meg or more should see you through. But ultimately, we have a `low end` system for FS9 and must accept the limitations. Very few aftermarket planes use even the simplest techniques for file size reduction - if that becomes crucial then try the AI planes.Allcott
