Help! My sim is crashing!

Featured Replies

signaturelogo.jpgI seem to have developed an area the equivelant of the simmer's roach motel: a place where pilots fly into but they don't fly out.I find that anytime I get near (within ten miles) of the town of Angoon, on the west coast of Admiralty Island in southeast Alaska, the sim boots me out without even the usual error message. I seem to be able to do everything else normally but I can't get anywhere near that town. My first thought was that it was a corrupted FSE file or one of the add-on scenery files but after eliminating those, I still got the boot from the sim. I tried eliminating the mesh scenery from that area but that didn't make a difference either. Anyone have any ideas?sigpic.jpghttp://dogcreek.allwebco.com/

Do a search on "Seasonal CTD" here in the forums... There's issues with blending snow/ground textures which users here have hammered out some fixes for. One way to test if you're a victim of that issue is to change your season to summer. In addition to what you've done to troubleshoot, also note that a bad traffic.bgl can cause problems if you've customized your traffic...-John

signaturelogo.jpgThanks John.I tried switching to summer but got the same result. I thought you'd be right on the money about the traffic because there was one traffic file I had added to that location. I deleted the flightplan and re-compiled but I'm still getting the same result. Thanks for the help but it appears that I've still got the same problem.sigpic.jpg

You might want to try restoring the original traffic.bgl from the FS2004 install disks, vs. recompiling. Also, if you haven't applied the Terrain CTD fix, it may be worthwhile. There's some places in Alaska where snow is year round-JohnEdit: Also, I forgot to ask if you have any landclass or mesh installed in that area...?

signaturelogo.jpgThanks John, for all your help,I've managed to isolate it to my AFCAD program. I've been using the latest version (afcad221.zip) quite successfully until very recently. For some strange reason, when I make any alteration to an airport file, it renders the airport unusable and will cause the sim to crash. In the case I mentioned earlier, my problem was due to the fact that I had made a slight alteration to PAGN (and subsequently forgotten about it). I realized what was going on when I went back in and eliminated the two parking spots I had added. Now everything works fine except that I can no longer use AFCAD. At PAGN, or elsewhere...Therein lies my problem....:-( sigpic.jpg

I really cannot understand a word "BAD or CORRUPTED" in relation to traffic.bgl. PS. I'm also having various types of CTD, crashes, freezes etc.
