Is there any difference between the two? I've seen sports flying mentioned and wondered what relationship it had to aerobatic flying.

"Sport flying" refers to the recreational flying of small, very light aircraft. I imagine that there are no acrobatics in sport flying, given the small weight allowance for sport aircraft (1232 pounds in the FAA proposal for the class).
