Found another wierd issue with controller allocation - prop, mix

Featured Replies

Hi,There have been quite a few posts about control settings disappearing or not working the way they used to, even when the user has not knowingly changed anything.I have just had this happen again, but this time it was to my prop and mixture controls. After I initially set the game up, I allocated one controller button to increasing prop rpm and another button to decreasing it. At the time, I left the mixture on auto (as in the game managed it) so had no buttons allocated to that. This setup worked fine - just last night I was flying the RV6 and the prop control was working very nicely indeed - easy to control precisely with the two buttons. So today I unchecked the auto-mixture checkbox so I could allocate two more buttons - one for rich and one for lean. The game accepted these new assignments, but then things went awry with both the prop and mixture controls after I did this. Suddenly, the prop controls no longer worked properly - I had to keep pressing the control continously to get any movement at all from the lever, whereas last night it basically moved very precisely and predictably according to how long I held the button down for. The same thing was happening with my newly allocated mixture controls.Thinking something might have gone wrong with possible repeat commands, I shut the game down and went into the standard.xml file to edit it. I could not see anything obviously wrong and so simply added repeat lines to the four button allocations (not even sure whether they were there to begin with).I thought this might restore the functionality to what I had last night, but now the prop and mixture adjustments are way overzealous. I have no precise control over the movement anymore and there is a lag between the levers moving and stopping when I actually press and hold down the buttons. This effectively gives me only very rough control over the levers to the point where it is better to use the mouse. So I don't really know what happened here and unfortunately I no longer have a copy of last night's standards.xml file. Nevertheless, this seems to be another bug related to control allocations. I will probably delete the xml file completely and try to set another one up from scratch, but I suspect sometime soon we will see a game update and it would then be better to set up the controls from scratch again anyway.
