Aircraft Carriers

Featured Replies

Hi all, I should like to use the carriers in "All ArrCab Carriers" as starting/destination airports in my flight plans for FS2002. As for now I can get them only in GPS. Any help very appreciated.

I take it that you mean that you can't get them to show up in the FS9 Flight planner as starting points- neither can I - I don't think anyone can in FS9 - unlike FS2002 ( someone correct me if I'm wrong). However the way around it I use ( I fly from the CVs both offline and online with VATSIM) -----In flight planner pick a start point near as possible to the CV EG: for the vessel of Jacksonville I use KNIP ( Jax NAS). select the destination , choose the options IFR/VFR, GPS /Airways etc etc). When the planner produces the route - in the map view drag the route to the carrier, add that as a waypoint, then using Add/delete waypoints , make any modifications you want to the flight plan.(You can't delete the original Starting point)Load the plan but choose No when asked if you want the aircraft moved to the starting point - instead send the aircraft to the carrier. When you open the GPS it will pick up the FP at that point. If you want to fly online then you can just copy the relevant portions of the FP over to the Squawkbox or Vatsim "File flight plan" form. It works OK this way for meDave

Thanks Dave, I fly Fs2002 and can't get the cv's as starting point here too. But I am sure you found the right way to fly from a carrier to another one. GREAT !!

By coincidence - just after the posts above I downloaded a Beta version of the Super Flight Planner- get it at http://www.fsfreeware.com Tho it's a bit lacking in detailed instructions( It is beta) it will do exactly what we're after. After some trial and error(mostly error) - few false starts etc. I managed to put together a very simple FP from CVN67J( off Jacksonville) to KJAX, save it as FS9 type .pln file, load it in FS9 and fly it.I believe it will do a great many more complex things - but it's a bit " suck it and see" at the moment as far as I'm concerned - but it WILL allow the use of the Aircraft Carriers as start and finish points in a Flight PlanDave
