March 9, 201214 yr Good Day,I'm about to install FSX on a new computer. From past experience of others, I'm installing it away from the Programs(x86) default location. Instead I'm installing it on D drive under a directory I'm making myself. Now I did a test install last night and found that when you install to a non-default location, it will install directly to whatever folder you point it to. In the default location when you install it, FSX makes it's own directory called "Microsoft Flight Simulator X", but it didn't do that in my test install last night. My question is then, does it matter if the top FSX directory is not named "Microsoft Flight Simulator X"? I am planning on putting it in the directory: D:FSFSX ("D" is the drive of course, and "FSFSX" are the folders I will make myself and point FSX to). I'm most concerned about add-ons that will be coming later, but as I understand it, they will either find FSX (wherever it is) from the Registry, or you simply have to point the add-ons to where FSX is during their install routine. Thanks, time is of the essence on this one :( . Appreciate the help.PS - I'd better add that I have all the UTX addons. Can I still install to a non-default location?
March 9, 201214 yr When you select Custom Install just go ahead and type in where you want it to go. In my case it was F:FSX and off it went.UTX must be installed in your primary FSX directory. In my case it was F:FSX and off it went.
