Flying the Grand Canyon blind

Featured Replies

After watching the Hunt for Red October a few days ago I thought about the part of the movie where the October runs thru an underwater canyon and wanted to try something like that in FS buy means of a sectional, a time piece, waypoints and making the weather complete IFR. Before I get started just wanted to see if anyone else has done this before and has a plotted course with times & headings and/or any input on what would be the best default a/c to do this in.

Have a look in the Dream Flights forum on here. look for my post KGCN the Grand canyon- scroll down the replies to (I think) the 3rd one - it's from "Denis the ancient Brit". He has produced what sounds like a very detailed flight plan which might be what you need(1500 waypoints). His Email address is in his post - he offers to send the FP to anyone interested.I remember the scenes in the film - really edge of the seat stuff - good luck with it - at least if you make a mistake you can have another go!Dave
