getting rid of an annoying error on FS9 startup ????

Featured Replies

hiI have been getting this error message since I first installed FS2004 on my computer.I have Windows XP Pro and my account is set up as an administrator account. FS9 also starts normally after I press the OK button and sceneries install normally. The message really is just an annoyance and slowing the startup of FS9. Anyone else have had this problem ? This has occured every time I start FS9 and ha been there since I bought and installed the sim for the first time.any help appreceated

All it means is that you are not signed into XP as an administrator. Your have to change your XP login settings so you can have all the priveliges like installing and removing programs etc.Go to control panel/user accounts/ and click on your login and change the settings. You may need to get the person who has admin rights to do it.

Reading the original message and the guy says his account is already setup as an administrator so what you said doesn't help much hehehehe. Although my posting doesn't help either since I have no idea what could be causing the problem. He probably should at least double check that he is indeed running the sim under administrator priviledges. Beyond that maybe reinstall the sim.

Right click on the Program Files folder in the drive where you have installed FS9 and select the Properties menu then the Security tab. In the Security tab make sure that the account name you use for Log On is listed with all the boxes ticked. As others have said, that message simply means, that your logon does not have write priviledge in the area which FS9 is wanting to write something (presumably the FS9 folder). Even though your logon has Administrator priviledge, there needs to be a security descriptor for that area of the hard disk indicating that your logon or its group has Write access. The Security tab will create that descriptor entry for you.
