Download Size: NA Format: DVD Simulation Type: NA Reviewed by: Marlon Carter AVSIM Staff Reviewer - March 28, 2012 CUBANA T_photo1.jpg Today we take a look at an airline which is known of but not well known to the aviation community. Cubana is based out of Cuba and today we get the never before seen exclusive view into its operations. HighlightsWe start off with a round trip from Havana to Bogotá onboard the IL-62. It’s not every day you have the opportunity to fly onboard an IL-62 and this trip was very entertaining. Some of the highlights were the walk-around, push back and start up viewed from the ramp, taxi and a very thorough cockpit presentation. One can’t help but notice how complicated the systems of the IL-62 truly are and this is evident in the fact that the IL-62 requires a crew of 4 pilots! Another interesting segment of this flight features the cabin service onboard the IL-62.Our next round trip takes us from Havana to Guantanamo onboard the An-24. We begin with the pilots going through the checklist in preparation for an early morning departure. Highlights include an extensive walk-around and through cockpit presentation. After returning to Havana we take a tour of the maintenance hangar where all of Cubana’s aircraft, as well as others, are maintained. Our final set of round trips take place onboard the Yak-42 as we journey from Havana to Santiago de Cuba, Guatemala city and San Jose, Costa Rica. Highlights of these flights include cockpit presentations, exterior clips of the YAK-42 starting up, Cabin view, Cabin service and fantastic views of Cuba and Guatemala. This DVD was a fantastic journey. It has an array of amazing views and informative information from the many pilots who made this DVD a great addition to your collection.

Addition Information AUSTRIAN B777-200 T_Photo2.jpg Our final DVD features Austrian Airlines B777-200 on a round trip from Vienna to Kuala Lumpur and then on to Sydney Australia. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights. HighlightsWe start off with our pilots being briefed by the dispatcher on our route and weather to Kuala Lumpur. After departure, some of the highlights of our first leg include clips of various aircraft flying by above and below our aircraft. Fantastic views from the cockpit and very detailed discussions with the Captain and First officer on escape routes in the event of an engine failure, routing and fuel planning and the inner working of the auto land system are also discussed. After landing in Kuala Lumpur, we are taken to various sites around the city before our next day departure to Sydney. After a detailed preflight briefing we are off to Sydney on the final leg of our trip. Highlights of this trip include great views of Singapore and a detailed explanation of the B777 data link system as we fly over the northwest coast of Australia. After landing in Sydney we are treated with various clips from Sydney airport of aircraft landing and taking off.Our return trip to Vienna via Kuala Lumpur featured many highlights. Some of the segments that stood out were the in-flight service which featured Austrian Airlines first class meal service with an onboard chef! I have to say that this is perhaps the best meal I have seen served on any airline.Other highlights include clips of lightning from nearby thunderstorms during cruise and a nice power point presentation on the exterior walk-around of the B777. Highlights from our final leg from Kuala Lumpur to Vienna include a very thorough cockpit presentation and the foggy landing in Vienna at night. This was a very entertaining DVD and one that also features replays of the take off and landings with an interesting cockpit camera views. I think that this will definitely appeal to B777 fans out there and I would highly recommend it. Addition Information
Summary / Closing Remarks Once again, this DVD was an absolute pleasure to watch and I think anyone who loves aviation will enjoy them. At a cost of $25-30 each they are a bargain. These are perfect for days when you what to see or do something aviation related but also want to enjoy the comforts of home.Just Planes has really stepped up their editing and production of their DVDs and I am sure we will continue to see more innovations in their future products.
