April 12, 200422 yr This really is an amazing program. I'm just getting into the 'in depth' features and am really enjoying it. I cant believe that everyone's not raving about it ........ Is it just that it has not been discovered yet ? It's more flxeble than Flight Deck Companion and I'm finding I'm using Hotseat more and more. With the X-45 Hotas and Voice recognition software to confirm commands with the Hotseat co-pilot and ATC etc I hardly need to lay a finger on the keyboard. Please check Hotseat out or you will be missing a gem !! It's GREAT !!
April 12, 200422 yr Unfortunately it's also bound to your computer with one or another code. I do not want to have to explain to anyone why I reinstall or change hardware and wait for them to approve this (if they are still around). That's the main reason I didn't buy it, but I am sure everyone has his or her own reasons (well, the non standard GUI also annoyed me as well to be honest - my time is too limited to deal with a GUI not confirming to basic Windows guidelines). And now we are at it - computer generated voices aren't really up to the task yet, but it will probably be better in a few years.I considered making the AI sound stuff myself, and did get an alpha version running in one day and two evenings (I was slowed down a bit as I never programmed any DirectSound or FSUIPC before - as soon as that was figured out it wasn't exactly hard), but I probably never have any time to look into this again - even though it did sound pretty nice when a plane passed right over my head.
April 13, 200422 yr It's a great tool and the AI sound feature is outstanding ... but ~40 EUR for only the AI Sound feature is too much for me.Hopefully someday there will be a freeware or low-cost/mass-sales tool with nice AI Sound. Or even better FS2006 should support EAX 4 with 5.1 sound right out of the box !
April 13, 200422 yr Actually my test was 5.1 if I had been running it on the other computer (on my dev system it was only 4.0). All the mapping to the channels is done by DirectSound, so it's not a big deal.If one or another developer wants to take on this relatively easy task, just drop me a mail and you can get some test C# code - probably not something the tool can be based on, but at least it should give a few hints.
April 13, 200422 yr I looked at it when first released. Nice, but I already have FDC. I wish they would just release a stand along AIBlast. Richard
